Samsung Oven Not Heating Up? Settings & Service Checks

Start here: Confirm the selected cooking mode, temperature and Start command, then check that the door closes and the oven is not in Demo mode. A cold oven needs a different diagnosis from one that heats but cooks unevenly.

Updated September 13, 2026. Use the full model code; controls differ across Samsung ovens and ranges.

Read the display before choosing a repair

Samsung’s oven-temperature guidance explains that preheating can initially display 150°F, and that an oven remaining there unusually long may not be heating. It also identifies an open door and Demo mode as checks. Demo indicators can include tESt, d, D or DEMO depending on the model.

Find the manual’s Demo-mode procedure instead of trying button combinations from another range. Record the exact display text and how long it remained unchanged. Do not repeatedly start heating attempts if an error, burning smell or other abnormal condition appears.

Keep gas and electric troubleshooting separate

Check the model paperwork to identify the appliance type. Do not pull a range forward to inspect connections; doing so can strain a gas line or disturb its anti-tip installation. A working display does not establish that the heating system has the supply it needs.

Leave gas-pressure adjustments, ignition work, element replacement and live electrical measurements to qualified service. If you smell gas, leave the area and call your gas emergency service from a safe location. Do not use a burner or an electrical switch as a test in that situation.

If it heats but does not cook as expected

Use the model’s temperature-check and calibration instructions. A completely cold oven is not corrected by increasing a calibration offset. Record whether the problem affects Bake, Broil or both, without touching elements or defeating a door switch. Keep examples of the selected mode, rack position and cooking result for support.

Prepare an accurate fault description

  • Full model code and gas or electric type if known.
  • Selected cooking mode and temperature.
  • Exact display message or fault code.
  • No heat at all, slow preheat, or inconsistent cooking.
  • Recent installation, power outage or service work.

Use the printable checklist. Ask service to identify the fault before ordering a heater, igniter or control board; the same symptom can have more than one cause.

Should I replace the igniter because the oven is cold?

Not from that observation alone. First establish the model and fuel type, then have the applicable system diagnosed.
